Yes! Mold can start growing within 24-48 hours. That’s why immediate drying and dehumidification are critical. Dormant mold damage could be reactivated immediately if left untreated. 

It depends on the cause and source of the water. Sudden damage (like a burst pipe) is usually covered, but gradual leaks may not be. Groundwater entering the home is typically not covered unless you have flood insurance.
